BKW acquires two more wind farms in Italy

BKW FMB Energy Ltd (BKW) has acquired another two wind farms in Italy from Fortore Energia S.p.A. The acquisition strengthens BKW's position as a producer of wind power.

The two find farms, Buglia (20 MW) and Ripacandida (42 MW), are located in Italy's windiest region, Apulia, and collectively produce around 95 Gigawatt hours of electricity a year. BKW has acquired these wind farms as part of its move to expand existing wind power capacities in the region. With six wind farms, BKW will have an installed capacity of 144 MW and become one of the main wind power producers in Italy.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the cost of the transaction, which has already been approved by the Italian competition authorities.
