GOLDFISH Project at World Expo in Spain
Swiss innovation for reducing CO2 emissions

When it comes to reducing CO2 emissions, floating mobile solar power plants are the order of the day according to the innovative GOLDFISH Project developed in Switzerland. The application of such plants would be feasible on inland navigation systems in conurbations such as Dubai, Shanghai and Sydney. The unique project developed by Swiss energy supplier BKW FMB Energie AG, a company with many years experience in the use of solar energy, will be unveiled to potential investors from all over the world on September 2 2008 at the World Expo in Zaragoza, Spain, following Switzerland's invitation to the event.

The first week in September at the World Expo is devoted to innovations in energy and water, with Switzerland presenting the GOLDFISH Project developed by BKW FMB Energie AG of Berne. BKW is a leading Swiss company in the field of green energy. The project marks the global launch of the concept of floating mobile solar power plants. Capable of operating in a wide variety of locations, these installations can fulfil a range of functions in inland waterways where there is good exposure to sunlight. Operation in passenger shipping applications is an obvious example, where CO2-neutral energy supply can be guaranteed.

The GOLDFISH Project has been developed with the aim of operating the world's first solar powered submarine on Thunersee lake against the backdrop of the Swiss Alps. A study published this summer confirms the feasibility of the project. The project team is currently looking for investors to help implement this prestigious project which offers major benefits to energy supply as well being a key tourist attraction.
